I was really bummed this week because we had so many things going on. I didn't how I was going to meet this week's challenge at Inspirational Avenue. My husband was trying to help me out because I had been frantically trying to meet all my other challenges this week, very calmly and slyly said that maybe I should just pick and choose ....with a little grin on his face. Seriously? he knew that wasn't going to fly.
In between all the comings and goings this week I had been trying to finish a wreath for my front door for several weeks when it hit wreath could just be the challenge for this week.
This picture is how it started sitting on my table for several weeks.

I had a really nice surprise before I began working on it. I took a few minutes to open some purchases I made from some of my favorite Etsy shops that also had been sitting for about a week and one of them was a Bear paw handmade soap from Dixie Dreams in Kodiak, Alaska. I found her shop in Etsy and I was thrilled to find out that she was from Kodiak, Alaska, the place where I was born and my grandparents lived there on the island for many years. When I opened her box, not only did I find the most incredible soap but also inside I found a little bag of beach treasures...a little piece of drift wood, some wonderful pieces of beach glass, a cool shell and a few little beach stones. I knew immediately that I wanted to incorporate these wonderful little treasures onto my wreath.

Thanks Inspirational Avenue for this week's challenge, I was able to finish my wreath, enter the challenge and I have a wreath I love with treasures from a new treasured Etsy shop and friend!
Here is my finished wreath!

Hop over to Inspirational Avenue and check out some SUMMER FUN & RELAXATION!
Also, feel free to join in the fun! (You might even finish one of your projects)

  1. This is so sweet! And I LOVE the back story ALMOST as much as the wreath-good job!

  2. This is so light and breezy ~ it just says "summer"! What a great story about your Alaskan beach treasures!

  3. Kim, it's always inspirational reading about your journey of creating! Thanks for this post.

  4. It makes me think of sunny childhood holidays in Cornwall with the sounds of seagulls! Fab pieceof work.

  5. How pretty and beachy-chic! Must have been serendipity that you found the perfect items just when you needed them - I love when that happens!:)

  6. Kim I love the wreath you made! It made my day to see you found something to do with the "little pieces" of Kodiak I sent. Now when I walk the beaches and find treasures I will have your wreath in mind.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. You are a blessing to me!
